Frank Hocevar, 58 years of age and an engineer from Gary, Indiana, was an enthusiastic private owner of an Austin A40 Dorset that set the record for the coast-to-coast elapsed time trip from California to New York in October of 1948.

In August of 1948, prior to his coast-to-coast run, Frank Hocevar toured the capital cities of all 48 states from New York to California. The trip covered a total of 3,260 miles.
